Flightradar24’s 3D view was originally built on Google Earth and has since migrated to Cesium. The move has allowed Flightradar24 to be viewed on a wider array of devices, without a plugin.
As part of the move to Cesium, Flightradar24 has developed a more immersive 3D view. In addition to providing a cockpit view, the new 3D view also allows users to track flights from outside the plane, which is represented by a 3D model. See their aircraft models in glTF format on GitHub. Users can pan and zoom to see the flight from any angle and watch detailed scenery pass beneath.
