Cesium Releases in August 2021

This month we made updates across the Cesium platform, including adding support for Android to Cesium for Unreal and responding to many community requests for improvements to CesiumJS.

CesiumJS 1.84 Release

CesiumJS 1.84 is now available. The release includes numerous community-requested improvements and bug fixes.

Highlights of the release include:

  • Added ImageryLayerCollection.pickImageryLayers, which allows you to pick individual imagery layers, for example, when needing to select a single imagery layer from a series of overlapping drone collections.
  • Added a polylinePositions getter to Cesium3DTileFeature that gets the decoded positions of a polyline vector feature.
Cartesian coordinates for a polyline in a vector tile

Returning a Float64Array of Cartesian coordinates for a polyline in a vector tile. This works for both clamped and unclamped polylines.

See the changelog for a full list of updates and links to the discussion & code on each one. You can also subscribe to the new Cesium roundup release thread on our community forum to get notifications about our monthly releases.

Agents at JLL, one of the world's largest commercial real estate firms, rely on Blackbird to show their clients potential properties. Blackbird is an app built on Cesium that fuses multiple datasets—including 3D buildings, workforce demographics information, tax incentives data, and location of transit stops—to give clients a deep understanding of potential properties. All that data streams smoothly in the browser with 3D Tiles for a virtual market tour.

Blackbird, JLL's visualization platform built on Cesium, is used by thousands of JLL brokers to explore properties with clients.
