2020 Highlights
Although it presented some challenges, 2020 was an incredible year for Cesium and we’re grateful for the progress we made together as a team. Here are some of the highlights:
- Launched Smart Construction digital twin partnership with market-leader Komatsu Construction.

- Announced our collaboration with Epic Games to create Cesium for Unreal.
- Built Project Anywhere with Epic, Microsoft, and NVIDIA to show cloud/GPU/game-enabled simulation.
- Collaborated with The Smithsonian on their Open Access Initiative.
- Launched our partnership with Intel Geospatial.
- Collaborated with Bentley Systems on Cesium ion / iTwin integration.
- Shipped Cesium Stories, Cesium OSM Buildings, and CDB to 3D Tiles.

- Won the Technology Startup Award by PACT, the Geospatial Startup of the Year by Geospatial Media & Communications, and the grand prize of the GEOINT Innovative Tradecraft Competition held by the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).

- Added 17 amazing people to the team while we continue hiring to fill open roles as fast as we can.

- We introduced a new home for our Cesium developer community, and celebrated a significant milestone for CesiumJS - one million downloads.
- Cesium powered NORAD Tracks Santa for the 8th year in a row, entertaining 20+ million people around the world.
