Cesium Brings 3D Geospatial Expertise to New Joint Tokyo Office with Bentley and Seequent
From pioneering the world's largest open 3D city model, to accelerating Smart Construction, the Japanese developer community has continually pushed the boundaries of what’s possible—and Cesium has been proud to partner with them. As we continue to support this incredible momentum, we are thrilled to announce the opening of our new Tokyo office co-branded Bentley, Cesium, and Seequent. We marked the occasion at the end of June with our teammates and partners, reflecting on our shared past and commitment to supporting Japan’s digital future.

Roots and growth
At the heart of Cesium’s presence in Japan is our mission to bridge the physical and digital worlds, making it easier than ever for everyone to build and collaborate in 3D. Over the years, we’ve been honored to see open standards and our open platform provide an accurate, reliable geospatial foundation. Cesium software and teammates have supported transformative projects, such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT)'s visionary Project PLATEAU’s 3D city models across the country, fusing physical and cyber spaces, and our partnership with EARTHBRAIN integrating Cesium and iTwin to modernize earthworks for Komatsu, empowering the workforce and reducing data processing workflows from one month to one hour.

We are inspired by the user stories that emerge from this ecosystem. NTT is exploring a space data center architecture with CesiumJS for on-orbit satellite network visualization. Nippon Koei is streamlining geospatial data acquisition and processing for urban development and social infrastructire projects with Cesium ion and Cesium for Unreal. Prof. Hidenori Watanave digitizes and shares the human experience side of wars and natural disasters with CesiumJS and Cesium Stories.

With MLIT’s i-Construction initiative, establishing a national policy for 3D model adoption by 2029, the AEC sector is doubling down on digital transformation. Together, Bentley, Cesium, and Seequent (Bentley’s subsurface modeling and analysis company) enable a more complete understanding of infrastructure and its geospatial context, above and below ground. These capabilities are not siloed, and collaboration is core, not just encouraged.
A community hub
We are grateful for the opportunities and partnerships that have brought us to this joint workplace and meeting space. Bentley, Cesium, and Seequent envision the new Tokyo office as a hub for the 3D geospatial ecosystem. Creators, developers, engineers, and researchers can share ideas and work together on the next generation of infrastructure in Japan.
If you are building with Cesium in Japan, we want to hear from you. Become Cesium Certified or share details of your use cases with us.
The driver of Japanese digital transformation is the community, and we look forward to hosting you in Tokyo.
