Xuan Huang

(She/Her)

3D Graphics

Xuan studied at Bryn Mawr College for her bachelor's degree in computer science, during which she conducted computer graphics research at Bryn Mawr College, Swarthmore College, and the University of Pennsylvania, leading to a SIGGRAPH poster in 2017. She obtained a PhD in computing from the University of Utah with a specialization in graphics and visualization, advised by Valerio Pascucci. Her work focused on scalable techniques for fast and accurate visualization of large-scale scientific volumetric data on distributed high-performance computer (HPC) systems; the results are publications in scientific visualization conferences and journals.

Before graduating and joining Cesium, Xuan had an internship at Intel’s OSPRay group, where she contributed to ray-tracing feature maintenance and development. She also did an internship at the Lawrence Livermore National Lab, where she developed a novel visualization algorithm for a bimodal analysis environment.

Outside of work and research, Xuan enjoys retro, pixel-art strategic GBA games (Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Tactic Ogre) and leisure hikes.
