Amanda Morgan
(She/Her)Senior Director, Open Standards
As the Senior Director of Open Standards, Amanda pursues the development and ratification of open standards with international Standards Development Organizations (SDO). Amanda is an open standards evangelist and believes strongly in the openness that standards enable, positioning organizations to thrive through interoperability and alignment. She is responsible for Cesium’s standards roadmap, collaborating with industry leaders, engaging with development teams, and facilitating standards partnerships.
Most of Amanda’s career has been in the defense industry. She started her career as a Naval Officer, transitioned to work as a defense contractor, and then became a civil servant. She’s worked as a system engineer for Leidos, a lead release engineer for NAWC-AD, and the Technical Executive for Standards at the NGA. Her favorite defense job was the five years she spent in London working for NAVAIR liaising between the US and Royal Navies.
Amanda goes back to school about every ten years and, so far, has collected a variety of degrees. Her BS in math from Virginia Tech taught her how to problem solve, her MA from Wake Forest in counseling honed her communication and relationship building skills, and her MSc from Oxford in major program management was just for fun. Who knows what’s next!
Amanda’s partner is a teacher, and together they have three kids. She loves audiobooks, vegetable and native flower gardening, and going on holiday with her family.
