Collect data with drones

Drones have made it faster and cheaper to gather crop data. For example, when a drone carrying a multispectral camera photographs a field, Cesium can process those photos to show areas where vegetation is healthy versus areas with distressed plants.

Gain insights from imagery layers

With Cesium, the user can easily interact with the data, such as adjusting layer opacity to see differences in data collected at different times during the growing season. Thanks to the 3D environment it can also show correlation between data trends and landscape or terrain features. These insights into crop health and yield estimation enable growers to make better business decisions and to apply fertilizers and pesticides in a more targeted way.

Federal Geoportal

An entire country modeled in 3D

Map the natural and man-made landscape in 3D.

Switzerland’s national mapping agency, swisstopo, produces detailed maps of the country and also documents geological, geodesic, and topographical changes in the landscape. Their Swiss Federal Geoportal has more than 500 geodata sets originating from a variety of federal bodies, and about 3 million structures, complete with roof geometries and overhangs.

Interactive sharing.

In response to the Federal Geoinformation Act to make geospatial data available for widespread use, swisstopo has opened much of their national geodata collection to the public, including a 3D Geoportal, which allows anyone to explore their detailed maps. Approximately 50,000 users access swisstopo’s infrastructure each day.
