The Cesium Certified Developer program recognizes your technical expertise in building on the Cesium platform. 

The certification program is free and open to anyone. Becoming a Cesium Certified Developer enables you to connect and collaborate with the greater 3D geospatial ecosystem.

Certification Process

Certification lasts one year; you will receive a follow-up survey to maintain certification.

Requirements

To receive your certification, you must prove excellence with Cesium. Excellence means you have built a project beyond the provided tutorials. This could be with CesiumJS, Cesium ion, or with one of the runtime engines (Cesium for Unreal, Cesium for Unity, Cesium for Omniverse, etc.). Experience with development will be necessary.

You can get started by applying here. Once you have submitted your application, we will email you a project submission form to demonstrate your experience in Cesium.

You can apply for team or organization certification if your team has five certified developers or 25% of the team can develop with Cesium, whichever is lower.

Please, only submit one application and project submission per team, and make sure to give all members proper credit for their work.

No, the program is truly free of charge.

As a Cesium Certified Developer, you receive:

  • Access to a member of the Cesium team, who will work you through the submission process and be available to connect with you as a certified developer. 
  • You will be featured on Cesium’s website, allowing the community to discover your work and services for their business needs.
  • You will be part of Cesium’s ecosystem updates and communications, highlighting your work to a global audience. 

No. You will submit a project demonstrating your use of Cesium.

Your submission must prove that you can independently develop with Cesium beyond the tutorial level. 

Every project submission should have the following information:

  • Narrative: An in-depth overview of the project. Include the project goal, the steps involved in creating your project, the final result of the project, and the next steps/future work.
  • Architecture: Diagrams, technical documentation, and as much supporting code as possible to show us your expertise using Cesium.
  • Supporting documents: Visuals, applications, or videos that explain the project implementation to someone unfamiliar with the project.

There is no set timeline for certification. Certification is self-led and dependent on the time available to you and your experience level. This can happen over a few weeks or even months. Once you submit a project, the Cesium team will work with you to suggest changes, learning materials, or community support in order for your submission to reach the expected level of excellence.

No. The tutorials and learning pathways exist to support your self-guided journey. We strongly encourage you to get acquainted with them, as we judge submissions on whether you have been able to move your project beyond their content. Only some tutorials will apply to your project; for example, if you are submitting a project built on Cesium for Unity, then you will not be expected to have mastered the Cesium for Omniverse tutorials.

No. Your application and project submission will remain confidential. We will also ask for your approval before including your team in our Certified Developer Directory.

Yes. You can be certified on a project that cannot be shared publicly, please contact us for more information at certifications@cesium.com.

No. You will receive certification on the platform(s) you submit. This could be with CesiumJS, Cesium ion, or one of the runtime engines (Cesium for Unreal, Cesium for Unity, Cesium for Omniverse, etc.). 

Certification on multiple platforms is possible. 

Experience with development will be necessary.

Certifications will be valid for one year. You will submit a recertification form showing your progress over a year. You also have the opportunity to provide program feedback. Recertification is a quick process.
