Bonnie Bogle

Bonnie builds up the Cesium team, leading recruiting, communications, and business operations.

As COO, Bonnie heads up Cesium’s operations, leading recruiting, communications, and overall business operations—focusing on building a strong, transparent, and efficient foundation for Cesium’s next stage of company growth.

Bonnie is co-founder and former VP of Operations at Mapbox, one of the world’s largest providers of custom online maps. Under her leadership, the company grew to more than 225 employees, raised more than $60M in venture funding, and expanded to offices in Washington DC, San Francisco, Peru, Germany, and India. Prior to that role, she led operations at Development Seed, an open data consultancy, where she built the company’s operational foundation from scratch as the first non-technical employee. Today she holds a seat on its Board of Directors.

A believer in collaboration, openness, and inclusion, Bonnie has organized countless conferences and events for the geospatial and open source community, including several OpenStreetMap State of the Map conferences, the inaugural FedGeo Day, FOSS4G North America, and DrupalCon DC. She also is a co-founder of GeoDC, a local monthly meetup group with 2,000+ members and a 10 year active tenure.

An alumna of American University and a long-time resident of Washington, DC, Bonnie dedicated her first year in Philadelphia to mentoring women entrepreneurs. She is an active member of the startup and tech communities in both cities, and is a frequent speaker on business, entrepreneurship, and the role of women at work.

In her free time, Bonnie can be found trying out a new local restaurant or hiking through the Pine Barrens.
