CesiumJS 1.54 is Here with Faster 3D Tiles Using New WebP Image Format

We are happy to announce the release of Cesium 1.54.

Polylines on 3D Tiles

CesiumJS 1.54 includes support for polylines and textured geometries on 3D Tiles.

As part of this release, CesiumJS supports 3D tilesets using WebP imageswhich are smaller and stream faster. Support has been added to the Cesium ion Photogrammetry and CAD/BIM tilers, and will be available in the next release. Support for 3D buildings is also on the way.

Other Highlights include:

  • Support for polylines and textured entities on 3D Tiles. #7437 and #7434
  • Support for loading models with WebP images using the EXT_texture_webp glTF extension. #7486
  • Support for rhumb lines to polygon and polyline geometries. #7492
